Nana’s Famous Cranberry Sauce

12 oz fresh (or frozen) cranberries
2/3 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup water
pinch of cinnamon and cloves
honey to taste

Wash the cranberries and put in a pan. Pour the maple syrup and water over them, add spices and bring to a simmer. Cook until the cranberries pop open, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 15 minutes. Add honey to taste, keeping in mind that the sauce will lose some of its sweetness after becoming chilled.

Allow to cool to room temperature before refrigerating until ready to eat.
