Mom’s Cheeseburger Pie
Recipe courtesy of Jacqueline Twa
1 lbs ground beef
¼ cup onion, chopped
¼ cup ketchup
¼ cup tomato sauce
½ cup oatmeal
½ tsp seasoning salt
2 cups grated cheddar
1 beaten egg
¼ cup milk
1½ Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
¼ tsp pepper
9 inch double crust pie (click here for my recipe)
Preheat oven to 400 F degrees.
Sauté onion over medium heat until it starts to become translucent. Add the ground beef and brown (approximately 5 minutes). Mix in ketchup, tomato sauce, oatmeal and seasoning salt. Spoon the mixture into the bottom of a 9” pastry shell.
In a bowl, mix together cheese, egg, milk, worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Spread mixture over meat filling. Cover edges of crust with strips of aluminum foil.
Bake for about 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, until topping is puffy and lightly browned. Allow to stand for at least 10 minutes before serving.
